Toronto has become a centre for everything entertainment.  Movies, dancing, drinking—nightlife is always vibrant and on-the-go.  While we hurry in the touch-and-go metropolis, can it be argued that we’re forgetting to slow down? What happened to just a retreat, other than the lonely confines of your home?  What happened to drinks, cordially, elegantly, but vibrant nonetheless?

Chic, with a mellow yet sultry ambiance, complete with black, white and pink accents sound tasty? Throw in some gourmet cooking, live music, and private party sections and what was once coined the ‘Airport Strip’ returns, in a newly adventurous way.

The Royal Crown Lounge, located in the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel, has recently undergone an $11 million re-branding project where the art of socializing has been revamped.

The formally known ‘Airport Strip’, which housed multiple hotels complete with their own clubs, has now been revived in hopes to bring back some much needed Etobicoke entertainment.

A longtime performer, Craig Ruhnke welcomes guests to an evening of jiving tunes, all within the confines of a stylish interior. A veteran in Toronto’s music scene, Ruhnke’s knowledge on entertainment led him to take the position of musical director for the lounge. Picture plush colours with drips of bold finishes, secluded lounge areas, a bevy of VIP events and savory dining selections; this can all be enjoyed in the Royal Crowne Lounge.

“The hotel is committed to being inventive and creating excitement,” explains Craig Ruhnke. As a leader of the renovation surge, Ruhnke has become an integral part of the restructuring and vision of the Royal Crowne Lounge.

Not only will guests get to sip back on drinks like the “Royal Flush” but they will have the opportunity to mingle and dance without having to pummel through crowds of over-the-top partygoers.  Classic favourites like the Beach Boys and Bee Gee’s will be heard along with sultry jazz, folk and rock renditions.

The Royal Crowne Lounge will also be hosting themed events like the ‘No Snow Beach Party and the upcoming ‘Champagne & Chocolate” Valentine’s party on February 13th, 2010.

Guests can reap the full benefits of the enchanting venue by registering as a VIP member, which gives them exclusive discounts and offerings, such as 10% off food at the hotel’s La Brasserie Restaurant. Keep in mind Mr. Tony Fernandes is the chef on hand, so don’t expect anything less than scrumptious fixings to be grazing the table.  From small h’or d’oeuvres, to gourmet cooking, guests can expect to be taken care of while also becoming part of a new wave of classy entertainment.

“This is a great opportunity to recreate a new club. It’s going against the grain, and will get the local community out enjoying an evening of cocktails, dancing and live music,” Ruhnke furthers.

As a special bonus guests will enjoy complimentary entrance (aka no cover) for the time being, on behalf of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
