TORONTO — A Peel regional police officer is dead after a late-night car accident in Brampton, Ont.
The accident happened around 11 pm Monday night on Airport Road at Steeles Avenue when the officer’s cruiser collided with another vehicle then slammed into a light pole.
The officer died at Sunnybrook hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured.
Police say the officer was on duty at the time of the accident, but not on his way to a call.
Airport Road was closed for several hours overnight due to the investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who has any information is being urged to call Peel Police.
