Toronto--On Monday, Nearly 60% of Canadians will benefit from a statutory holiday. In Ontario it’s known as Family Day. Most workers, public or private, are entitled to take Family Day off with regular pay. Some businesses however, do remain open such as medical clinics and some stores, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

While known as "Family Day" in Ontario, the holiday is known as "Louis Riel Day" and "Islander Day" in Manitoba and Prince Edward Island, respectively. There is no federally-established Family Day.
